Dell Inspiron 14r

Dell has been on many consumers minds when they are looking for an affordable laptop. The new Dell Inspiron R line-up doesn’t disappoint, the line offers laptops from 14 inches to 17 inches and prices from as low as $450. The laptop that is the focus for this post is the 14.1″ Inspiron 14r.

The Dell Inspiron 14r laptop comes with in it’s base configuration the all new Intel Pentium P6000 processor(an OK processor if you are just using your laptop for e-mailing, Internet and playing DVD’s). However you can also get the Intel Core i3 or Core i5 processor for added funds, the Core i3 and Core i5 processors offer you added performance over the base Pentium dual-core processor.

The case and all-around build quality is vintage Dell Inspiron with a mostly plastic build. The Inspiron 14r is by no-means a shoddily built laptop but it isn’t on the same level as a $1,100+ Apple Macbook Pro. The Inspiron 14r laptop comes in a Black, Blue, Pink and Red case color.

Other than the design not being completely rock solid the Inspiron 14r doesn’t come with all-day operating capabilities if you are using the base 6-cell Li-on battery(you can upgrade to a 9-cell battery which offers you up to 10 hours and 22 minutes of life). In testing the Inspiron 14r with the 6-cell battery lasted only 2 hours and 58 minutes when playing videos.
